Mozhi - Feeling the Unfelt
Recently I happened to watch the Tamil movie- 'Mozhi'. I must confess that after ages something refreshing and different has come from the Tamil Film Industry. The film has Jyothika and Prakash Raj in the lead.
The film deals with Romance of a very different nature; portrays the life of a woman who is deaf and dumb and importantly, how she SENSES her World. In once of the scenes, the Hero tries to imagine her life by shutting his ears with cotton. In this setup he walks through the 'buzzing' Chennai streets. He sees people fighting, laughing, political leaders 'promising' - but amidst all this, he fails to HEAR the words.
A silent World... A Life of no FALSE promises... perhaps a sense of isolation or total liberation??!! Her World is a language of signs, a World where words get replaced by signs or 'Mozhigal'. She can FEEL Music, she can FEEL the air she breathes. I specifically mention the word FEEL because, we as humans tend to gauge everything around us through our senses, the way we FEEL about the things around us. These 'things' more often than not tend to be FEELings of love, hate, jealousy, insecurity; but never do they encapsulate the simple aspects of our lives - the air, the feelings aroused by the sight of the snow capped peaks, the feel of the grass under your feet, the music of the birds, the love of a mother showered on her children.
As I contemplate on such thoughts, I find it funny who calls whom 'DISABLED'!!!!

I saw the movie and I also came out with the same feeling; how can we call them Disabled.
The word is they are Differently abled.
Just think about this - In history there is no record of a differently abled person ever committing suicide.
They are mentally that much more stronger than the average human.
Wonderful movie and a cool review of it.
